halli hallo,

hab linux 10.0 installiert, und es läuft alles ohne probleme, bis auf das kleine, aber absolut nervtötende manko, das sich das gesamte system einfach mal so aufhängt.
der zeitpunkt ist immer unterschiedlich, deshalb kann ich mir auch nicht vorstellen woran es hapern könnte.
mal beim booten, mal mittendrin und generell beim herunterfahren, wenn ich mal soweit komme.

bei einem reset wird die homeplatte beim booten gecheckt mit dem vorwand, die festplatte ist nicht ordentlich ungemounted worden. ist es vielleicht möglich, das es an den raid treibern liegt? o.ä? wäre um rat sehr dankbar

Hast du irgendwelche Updates gefahren z.B. KDE oder sowas und nicht alle Pakete aktualisiert? Ansonsten würde ich mal den Speicher mit MemTest prüfen, ob da alles ok ist.

hab das vollständige online update durch. die paketabhängikeiten sind auch ok. der memtest sagt auch nix aus.
hab grad mal die platten checken lassen, so ziemlich alle haben durch die mounterei gelitten.
ist es möglich irgendwie die treiber für die platten upzudaten o.ä?

Vor kurzem hatte ich aehnliche Probleme bei einem Rechner.
"Memtest" meldete auch pflichtbewusst fehler beim Speichertest.
Natuerlich sporasisch, nicht reproduzierbar, ebenso wie die
Systemabstuerze.

Es stellte sich dann der cache des Prozessors als defekt heraus.

Nicht immer ist alles so wie es scheint. ;)

Hast du mal die Systemmeldungen (LOGs) durchgeguckt?
Vll. taucht irgendwo eine Fehlermeldung auf die etwas darueber
aussagen, wo es klemmen _koennte_.

hmmm...seltsame Frage, aber berechtigt wenn man die Dokus nicht liesst. ;)

Im Verzeichnis:
/var/log
findest du _fast_ alle LOGs

Die Wichtigsten sind:
/var/log/messages (allgemeine Nachrichten)
/var/log/warn (Warnungen ... was auch sonst ;) )
/var/log/XFree86.0.log (LOG des grafischen Systems)

Dann gibt es noch den ganz wichtigen Befehl:
dmesg
"print or control the kernel ring buffer"
-> aus "man dmesg"

ich glaub ich hab die lösung für mein problem gefunden!
hab alle zusätzlichen festplatten und partitionen als fat32 formatiert, und kde runtergeworfen. jetzt hab ich gnome installiert und bislang kein absturz. alles macht einen ziemlich runden eindruck ^^ dennoch danke! man lernt schließlich nie aus

Das sieht so aus, als waere da tatsaechlich was faul.

Versuche bitte mal folgendes:

Schalte bitte mal "acpi" beim booten aus.
Wenn der Grub dein Bootmenue anzeigt, solltest du die "Bootoptionen" mit
F2 aufrufen. Ich hoffe es ist F2.
Dort tippe dann "acpi=off" ein.
Pruefe, ob dein OS dann funktioniert, oder ob es bei den Fehlermeldungen bleibt.

Dauerhaft eintragen kannst du das im Bootmanager.
Wenn das System gestartet ist:
/boot/grub/menu.lst
Da traegst du bei deiner Bootsektion zusaetzlich "acpi=off" ein.
Dann ist das dauerhaft.

Beispiel:

Die Zeile:
kernel /boot/vmlinuz root=/dev/hda2 vga=normal
wird um acpi=off ergaenzt.
Also:
kernel /boot/vmlinuz root=/dev/hda2 vga=normal acpi=off

PS: Die "powersave" Software schmiert gnadenlos ab und scheint den
Rest des Systems mitzunehmen.
Jedenfalls kannst das am Schluss deines LOGs lesen.
Bitte tue dir den gefallen und google mal nach LOG-File Erklaerungen.
Das ist nicht gerade unwichtig.
Wenigstens so allgemein solltest du wissen was da steht. ;)

Hi Leute,

das ist sehr interessant.
Ich habe auch SuSE 10.0 laufen und nach rund 60 Tagen hatte die Kiste dann ihren ersten, ernsthaften "Frost" erlitten.

Etwa im selben Zeitraum (Anfang September) und auch gestern schon wieder!

Da ich nicht im RZ der Uni bin muss ich dort erstmal wieder anrufen und hochfahren lassen.

Abgesehen von ACPI, was sind noch moegliche Ursachen?
Ich werde die logs spaeter im Verlauf des Tages mal posten, hoffentlich ist das jetzt ein bekanntes Problem bei SuSE 10.0 und erst seit den letzten Tagen.

Alles was ich so weiss noch von Remote Seite ist:

ping funktioniert,
apache2 ist tod
ssh ist tod
pop vorhin ok... (beim ersten Frost war das nicht der Fall),
jedoch imap nicht mehr

KDE lief nicht, es war hoechst wahrscheinlich nur der "Login-Screen" zu sehen, weil der Kollege nicht rein kam.


Hat jemand ne Vermutung?
Wie gesagt, die logs kommen noch.

also powersave hab ich abgeschalten und acpi grundsätzlich ausgemacht. alles läuft!

Ich sehe in der message sonst kaum Kernel Meldungen dieser Art!


Ich glaube um diese Uhrzeit sind dann wohl SSH/Mail/Apache2/etc. gefroren!

Komischerweise lief der Server weiterhin funktionierend als Router fuer alle Kollegen im LAN.

Wer vermutet was?
Oder sind das Routine Kernel Ausgaben?

Irgendwie war mir die Log von FreeBSD wesentlich sympathischer als die von Linux, welche innerhalb von einer Nacht ein ganzes Buch fuellen tut...
