Lenovo Thunderbolt 3 Essential Dock - Kein Zugriff auf Devices

Bei einem neuen Notebook 'Lenovo ThinkPad P15s Gen 2' mit Fedora 34 habe ich das Problem, dass die Docking Station außer Strom quasi gar nichts liefert.

Als disfunktional getestet:
*Netzwerk
*Monitoranschluss

Laut Recherche hat man die Option, im UEFI Security für Thunderbolt abzuschalten, was ich nicht tun möchte.

Gnome zeigt mir an unter Settings / Datenschutz / Thunderbolt, dass der direkte Zugriff auf Geräte erlaubt ist und dieses Dock 'legitimiert' ist. Also analog dem obigen Output von 'boltctl'.

Was mich hier stutzig macht ist die Meldung vom PCIe Port. Link Down bedeutet, dass die Verbindung des Ports mit dem PCIe Controller down bzw. unterbrochen ist. Daraufhin verabschiedet sich der xHCI Controller als Folgefehler.

Mit dem Down des PCIe Ports, verabschiedet sich auch der Sound. Danach folgt die Reaktivierung und Konfiguration der PCI Bridge.
Die Meldung vom thinkpad_acpi Treiber (undocked vom Hotplug Port Replicator) lässt auf ein mögliches ACPI Problem und der damit verbundenen Konfiguration schließen.

Kannst du bitte mal nach dem booten direkt die Ausgabe von

dmesg | egrep -i "acpi|apic|err|fail|fault"

posten?

Danach stellst du bitte das Problem nach und postest bitte die Ausgabe des vorherig genannten dmesg Befehls.

Dazwischen gab es diverse Zwischenschritte, die aber auch keine grundlegend neuen Infos brachten - die letzte Version sollte kummultativ sein.

Hinweis: Am Dock scheint das NIC sauber zu laufen, wenn man den beiden LEDs am Switch und am Dock selbst glaubt.

Hast du das Dock beim Booten schon angeschlossen? Wenn ja, stöpsel das mal nach dem Booten ein.

Die Lösung hier war überraschend simpel - es ist beinahe peinlich: In den Settings von Gnome braucht es neben der bestehenden Config für 'PCI-Ethernet' das selbe auch noch mal für 'USB-Ethernet'. Voila... :eek:ps:

Bei den Monitoren bin ich noch nicht weiter gekommen. Da mit dem Netzwerk und USB aber scheinbar das Dock problemlos funktioniert, versuche ich es erst mal mit anderen Anschlussarten. Ich habe mal ein paar Adapter bestellt...

Nächstes Teil im Puzzle - die Zeichen verdichten sich, dass es bei den Monitoren am Anschluss liegt. Ich konnte jetzt erfolgreich einen Monitor per HDMI an das Dock anschliessen. Das ging out-of-the-box in Gnome.

Die beiden problematischen Monitore laufen bis dato mit einem DVI-auf-DisplayPort-Adapter von Foxconn, welcher bislang jahrelang in anderer Konstellation prima funktionierte. Insofern habe ich Hoffnung auf Erfolg mit den bestellten Adaptern. Ich melde mich, wenn ich da mehr weiß...

Der erste Adapter ist da: i-tec USB-C DUAL DiSPLAY PORT ADAPTER

Da werden die beiden externen SAMSUNG 24'' Monitore per DVI angeschlossen, mit jeweils einem (bis dato schon im Einsatz befindlichen) Adapter auf DisplayPort gebracht und dann an den obigen i-tec USB-C-Adapter angeschlossen.

Erste Resultate:
*funktioniert nicht am Dock
*angeschlossen direkt am Notebook sind beide Monitore zusätzlich zu dem eingebauten ad-hoc nutzbar.
*Einschränkung: die Reihenfolge lässt sich in den Gnome-Settings nicht ändern, mit dem Hinweis, dass dies eine Hardware-Einschränkung sein könnte. So werden die Monitore einfach von links nach rechts vergeben (1-2-3). Ich brauche 2-1-3.

Es bleibt spannend...

Ich hatte einen Firmen-Laptop Lenovo T440 mit Dockingstation. Der hatte jeweils einen HDMI-, DVI- und VGA-Anschluss für Monitore. Bei den Kollegen, die die gleiche Ausstattung hatten, aber mit 2 Monitoren arbeiten, konnten den 1. an HDMI oder DVI und den 2. an VGA anschließen. Die Kombination HDMI und DVI funktionierte an den Dockinstation nicht.

Ich hatte im Homeoffice das Problem, dass der Display-Port mit HDMI-Adapter nicht mit meinem KVM-Switch harmonierte. Ich hab mir dann für meinen Homeoffice-Arbeitsplatz eine Dockingstation geben lassen, damit ich mit dem KVM-Switch zwischen Firmen-Laptop und meinem PC hin- und her schalten konnte.

Ich hatte heute Gelegenheit, das Notebook in einem anderen Setup zu testen.
Dabei wurde ein anderes Dock und zwei andere Samsung-Monitore (ebenfalls DVI) verwendet.
Dock: Lenovo ThinkPad USB-C Dock Gen2

Das Verhalten war soweit identisch:
*USB-Mouse am Dock funktioniert
*Netzwerk am Dock funktioniert
*Monitore via USB-C am Dock funktionieren nicht
*Monitore via USB-C am Notebook funktionieren (Reihenfolge nicht veränderbar)
