VMWare in Suse 9.2 installieren

Ich will gern mit meinen alten Apps wie Dreamweaver und Co. arbeiten und da Wine nicht gerade freundlich funktioniert will ich wie ich es in Windows gemacht habe die vm Win98 Image laufen lassen.

Also habe ich mir das folgende Packet heruntergeladen: VMware-workstation-4.5.2-8848.i386.rpm.

Dannach natürlich mit Yast2 installiert und dann mich mit su in der Console zu root gemacht. Nun vmware-config.pl eingegeben und die Samba Frage mit yes beantwortet. Nun kam danach folgende Meldung:

Nun würde ich gern mal wissen, was ich falsch gemacht habe und wie ich die Meldungen interpretatieren soll.

VMware 4.5.2 wird offiziell auf SuSE 9.2 nicht unterstützt. VMware 5.0 ist im Betatest.

Ich habe bei mir VMware 4.5.2 auf SuSE 9.2 installieren können:

Wow, schnelle Antwort. Leider komm ich aber nicht weiter. bei vmware-config.pl kommt der oben gennante Fehler! Wie ich den löse und woran das liegt verstehe ich nicht. Need help ;-)

Oder soll ich die 5'er beta beziehen um auf Suse 9,2 zu laufen? Wenn ja wo? Und wieso hast du mir nen Link zur Installationsanleitung geschickt?

PS: Installiere als HOST! Guest kann ich ja noch gar net, VMWARE läuft ja noch nicht.

Bei mir hat VmWare 4.5.2 unter SUSE 9.2 so geklappt:

cd /usr/src/linux
make cloneconfig
make prepare
vmware-confifg.pl

Vielleicht hilft´s ja

Nein das hilft nicht wirklich, genauso hab ich das auch gemacht. Was fehlt mir nun und was muss ich jetzt beachten?

Hab einfach nur wie man sieht die RPM Binarys runtergeladen und versucht zu installieren.

Was muss als erstes drauf? 4.5 dann 5? usw.

PS: In 10 min steht in meinem Profil mein Computer ala 64 bit.

Jetzt meckert er nur noch während der Nutzung, aber das lies ich mir erst mal by. tolly google.de

Also ich hab ja wie einige Wissen wieder auf 32bit Version gewchselt und die normale Version installiert.

Dort gab es wiedermals das obige Problem, doch diesemal half mir bluejg Tipp.

Nun kommt bei starten diese Meldung:

Unter dem norm. User klappt ja alles, aber auch der xhost +localhost Befehl bringt mir als root diese Meldung...

ja natürlich. erst als user per xhost + das display freigeben und dann als root zu dem display verbinden

z.B. also als user xhost +
dann als root: export DISPLAY=:0 und dann ist das display frei

Hey,

vlcht kann mir jemand helfen?

ich hab mit die vmware 5 runtergeladen und wenn ich vmware-config.pl als root in der konsole eingeben kommt die Eula die ich aber am Ende nicht abschließen kann.

Da kommt nix mit yes oder no damit es weitergeht und der Prozessor hat auf einmal 80% auslastung.
