Dual-Head total verzogen

Hallo zusammen,

glieich am Anfang. Ich bin totaler Newbie was Linux / OpenSuse angeht.

Ich möchte mein Desktopsystem (zur Zeit Windows XP) auf Suse Linux umziehen.

Ging eigentlich alles problemlos. Mein Problem ist nun das ich 2 Bildschirme habe im Dual-Modus.

Hab schon mal geschaut und ein Howto http://www.linux-club.de/ftopic46583.html gefunden.

Meine 2 Bildschirme laufen auch. Nur net so wie es soll.

Rechts ist der Startmonitor also die ganzen Desktopsymbole. Außerdem hat die Maus nen Grafikfehler.

Ich kann Fenster nicht von einem Monitor zum anderen ziehen, sondern die Monitore sind untereinander. Ich komme auf den 2ten Monitor wenn ich am ersten Bildschirm mit der Maus ganz runtergehe.

Außerdem ist 1 Desktop in English, einer in Deutsch.

Grafikkarte ist eine ATI X1600 256 MB AGP.

Ich hänge mal im Anhang meine xorg.conf mitrein.

du solltest wenn du Fenster vom einen zum anderen Monitor ziehen möchtest, eine Bigdesktop Konfiguration, anstelle Dualhead anstreben.

was für Monitore hast du?

Achte aber darauf, dass andere Geräte zum Einsatz kommen!

Tastatur Maus Monitore.

Ansonsten wirst du mit aticonfig anstelle:

aticonfig --initial=dual-head --screen-layout=above

Wieder ausgehend von einem sauberen File.

mit:

hat leider nicht geklaptt.

Naja hmm mit diesem BigDekstop. Kann ich da mehrer Fenster im Vollbildmodus öffnen oder ist der Vollbildmodus auf 2 Fenster ausgedehnt?

Beim Bigdesktop wird der Desktop über 2 Bildschirme gestreckt.

Du kannst diesen einen großen Desktop dann bedienen wie jeden anderen auch.

Bei Dualhead im Clone modus wird das Bild eines Desktop gespiegelt auf dem 2. Monitor zusätzlich dargestellt.

Hast du schon eine Lösung gefunden, die bei dir funktioniert ?

Ich habe auf der Arbeit auch zwei TFTs ... zwar mit einer Nvidia-Karte ... aber bei mir muss ich mit "Xinerama" "on" arbeiten ...

Allerdings habe ich meine xorg.conf auch von dem nvidia-settings erzeugen lassen ...

sorry aber soweit ich weiss, würde das nicht das gleiche wie bei fglrx bewirken.

Also in der Xorg.conf Bigdesktop aktivieren müsste es bewirken.

Der Treiber verwendet die:

grep Xinerama /var/log/Xorg.0.log
(**) Option "Xinerama" "off"
(II) fglrx(0): Initialized in-driver Xinerama extension

Und für Xgl müsste man im etc/sysconfig/displaymanager folgende Werte nachstellen:

Xinerama "on" würde bei mir bewirken das Xgl nicht mehr funktioniert bzw dri deaktiviert würde, soweit ich mich recht erinnere - als ich das letzte mal versucht hatte.

Ok,

schon wieder etwas dazu gelernt

Ich persönlich habe schon seit Jahren keine ATI Karte mehr im Einsatz und auch bei uns auf der Arbeit plädiere ich immer darauf, bei Rechnern auf denen Linux laufen soll, immer eine Nvidia Karte einzusetzten.

Aber meine Kriterien richten sich auch nicht an den 3D Effekten aus

Aber ich habe damit natürlich auch schon experimentiert ... hatte aber diverse andere Probleme mit Dual-Desktop und den für Beryl benötigten Unterstützung für die "Rotate - Desktop" Befehlen.

Apropos ... Im Ursprungspost erkenne ich auch bei erneutem lesen nicht das es um die Verwendung von XGL geht !!!!

Ist der von dir erwähnte "Bigdesktop" den unweigerlich an den XGL gebunden ???

Naja wie auch immer ... ich hätte jedenfalls nicht gedacht das der GK-Treiber so einen Einfluss auf die Möglichkeiten der Konfiguration in der /etc/X11/xorg.conf haben ...

Zumal Xinerama ja in der ServerLayout-Section konfiguriert wird.

Ich muß mir das nächste Woche bei mir auf der Arbeit einfach noch mal anschauen ...

unweigerlich an den XGL gebunden ???

nein Also bei mir klappt es mit dieser Xorg.conf in Xgl sowie Xorg;
Xorg Konfigurationsdatei Bigdesktop mit Xorg und BerylXgl

ich ändere jenachdem nur den Sysconfig wert auf Xgl oder Xorg und starte neu.

Dazu sei aber gesagt - ich meide Sax2 wie die Pest - währe schön, wenn es mit sax2 ginge -

Und ich hab in meiner Config datei keine Kommentare mit "#" <-
Und mit Digitalpanels hab ich keine Ahnung:

Beide Geräte mit folgenden Einstellungen:

* HorizSync 31.0 - 91.0
* VertRefresh 50.0 - 85.0
* zwei 19" Röhrenmonitore
* Auflösung für den Xserver 1024x768@85 Hz
* Unterstützte Auflösungen: "1024x768,1024x600,800x600,640x480"

Dabei ist mir außer der Geschichte mit "LeftOf " die altair3 schon erwähnt hat, aufgefallen das meine Konfig über zwei Einträge für Devices verfügt ... "Videocard0" und "Videocard1" die an die entsprechenden Screens gebunden sind ...

Anderseits die "metamodes" wohl eine Eigenheit von Nvidia darstellen da die ATI Treiber wohl kaum eine Option "nvidia-auto-select" besitzen ...

ah krass 0o

die Links und rechts vertuauschung beim ATI Treiber erreichst du dann aber durch den bool: "horizontal, reverse" und "horizontal" bei Bigdesktopsetup.

Ihr konfiguriert die Anordnung für Dualhead meines Wissens nach.

Also beim ATI Treiber sagt es diese Zeiel aus:

Option "DesktopSetup" "Horizontal,Reverse" # Desktopsetup (reverse)

Also das LeftOf ist bei Bigdesktop nicht in verwendung. Der Standard def.

Above macht bei unterschiedlichen Auflösungen sinn.

Und es geht ja um Bigdesktop und nicht dualhead :S

Bigdesktop sieht so aus:

2 x 1024x768 @85 Hz

Hallo Ich habe auch mal ne Frage ich habe auch 2 Bildschirme und eine Grafikarte gforce fx5900 xt Ich möchte gerne den einen als hauptbildschirm benutzen und den 2. nur als Arbeitsfläche... Einfach stumpf ein leerer Desktop. Kann mir da jemand helfen. In der sax habe ich nichts gefunden was mir weiterhilft. Da kann ich bigdesktop oder clone und das ist nicht was ich haben will!
