Wo Auflösung / Frequenz (von kwin) ändern?

Guten Tag,

ich wollte gestern ein altes Spiel spielen, seitdem bleibt der Bildschirm unter KDE schwarz und der Monitor zeigt als Fehlermeldung, dass er nicht mit dieser Auflösung und Frequenz angesteuert werden möchte.
Ich vermute, dass die Einstellungen von kwin verändert wurden?

Den Login-Manager kann ich noch wie gewohnt sehen, als mögliche Sessions stehen mir u. a. Plasma, Plasma (Wayland) und Plasma (full Wayland) (?) zur Auswahl.
Wenn ich KDE mit der ersten Einstellung starte, bleibt der Bildschirm schwarz.
Plasma (Wayland) funktioniert, die Darstellung ist aber nicht immer flüssig.

Kann ich irgendwo mit einem Texteditor die Einstellungen von Plasma (bzw. ich vermute von kwin) ändern / zurücksetzen?

Helfen würde auch die Datei Xorg.0.log und

Hallo,
kannst Du nicht einfach in den Systemeinstellungen -> Anzeige + Monitor die Auflösung ändern. Aber da denke ich wahrscheinlich zu einfach.

Danke schonmal für die Ideen!

Mit "nicht flüssig" meine ich, dass z. B. die Maus unter Wayland ruckelt. Das hat sie vorher ("nur Plasma" - kwin?) nicht gemacht. Das mag mit der nVidia-GPU und dem nouveau Kernel-Modul zusammenhängen.

Die Einstellungen Systemeinstellungen -> Anzeige + Monitor sehen jetzt gerade (Plasma mit Wayland) richtig aus - 2560x1440 bei 60 Hz, aber wenn ich mich mit "nur Plasma" anmelde, wird der Desktop nicht auf dem Monitor angezeigt. Der Monitor bleibt schwarz und zeigt die folgende Fehlermeldung:

Es scheint allerdings ein reines Problem auf dem Weg zum Monitor zu sein, da ich durch Tastenklicks in Programmen rumzuwerken scheine (neue Mails erstellen etc.).

Daß das Xorg-Modul nvidia fehlt, ist normal, wenn der proprietäre Treiber nicht installiert ist. Daß das Xorg-Modul nouveau fehlt, sollte nicht sein (entweder fehlt ein Paket, oder Deine Installation ist beschädigt). Daher wird das (nicht gerade berauschende) Xorg-Modul modeset verwendet, und warum dieses eine andere als die protokollierte Auflösung verwendet, könnte ein Fall für einen bug report sein.

Wayland verwendet offensichtlich einen Treiber, der eine brauchbare Auflösung zustandebringt.

P. S. +hsync -vsync ist laut EDID-Information Deines Bildschirms korrekt, hier irrt hwinfo.

Auf was für einen Kernel bzw. aus was für einem Repo sollte ich den updaten?
Wayland verwendet offensichtlich einen Treiber, der eine brauchbare Auflösung zustandebringt.
Unter Wayland ist das nouveau Modul geladen - zumindest sagt lsmod das. modeset findet grep da nicht.

Was ist denn da passiert??? Was war das für ein Spiel?
Sieht so aus, als müßtest Du Deine Grafikkarte neu einrichten (weil irgendwas (das Spiel?) die Konfiguration kaputtgemacht hat).

Gibt es noch das Tool sax2? Das war ne Weile (zum Leidwesen Vieler) ja mal rausgenommen worden.

War ein alter Ego-Shooter, also tatsächlich ein Spiel, das Ansprüche an die Grafik stellt.

An Sax2 hatte ich auch schon gedacht, aber das ist nicht an Bord. Deshalb war ich auf der Suche nach einer Möglichkeit, die entsprechende Datei mit einem Editor bearbeiten zu können. Oder gibt es eine Alternative?

Im Update-Repo von 15.1 gibt es mittlerweile 11 neuere Versionen, aber von regelmäßigen Systemaktualisierungen scheinst Du nichts zu halten.

Hmm. Also, die Datei für die Grafikkarteneinstellung war früher:

/etc/X11/xorg.conf
Dann wurde deren Inhalt über mehrere Dateien verteilt, die in dem Verzeichnis

/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d
liegen. Sollte es aber trotzdem noch eine Datei "/etc/X11/xorg.conf" geben (die irgendein Programm geschrieben hat), würde diese vor den Dateien in dem Verzeichnis Vorrang haben (was vermutlich nicht beabsichtigt ist).
sax2 wurde entfernt, weil man sagte, das System erkennt Grafikkarte und Monitor beim Start selbst. Was aber leider nicht immer der Fall ist. Dieses zentrale Systemtool zu entfernen war also ein Fehler aufgrund von Überheblichkeit, aber das mag eine andere Diskussion sein.
Bevor Du irgendwas tust, würde ich erstmal eine Sicherungskopie des Verzeichnisses "/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d" machen. Und auch von der Datei "/etc/X11/xorg.conf", falls sie existiert.
Dann kann man zur Not diese Dateien auf der Textkonsole zurückkopieren.

In YaST2 würde ich überprüfen, ob die Pakete wenigstens für den "nouveau"-Treiber überhaupt vorhanden sind (auch: "rpm -qa | grep -i nouv").

Wenn ja, würde ich vielleicht versuchen, die Datei "/etc/X11/xorg.conf" zu löschen, falls sie existiert. Wenn sie nicht existiert, würde ich vielleicht sogar auch die Dateien in "/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d", die mit Grafikkarte und Monitor zu tun haben. Damit das System beim Start diese Dateien selbst neu schreibt. Ich bin etwas unsicher, ob dieser Tipp richtig ist, aber wie gesagt kann man die Dateien von der Sicherungskopie (s.o.) zurückkopieren, falls es nicht klappt.

Eine zweite, vielleicht bessere Alternative wäre zu versuchen, den proprietären NVidia-Treiber für Deine Grafikkarte (ist doch NVidia?) zu installieren. Das kann im einzelnen aber leider ein längerer Prozeß sein, der von Deinem System abhängt.

Mir war allerdings tatsächlich bisher nicht bewusst, dass ein nennenswerter Unterschied zwischen 4.12.14-lp151.27.3 und 4.12.14-lp151.28.44.1 besteht und dass es sich lohnen könnte, da ein Update einzuspielen.
Also mache ich das mal...
