USB-Festplatte verschwindet

Hallo liebe Helferchen,

ich nenn eine 500GB USB2.0 Festplatte mein eigen (Samsung HD501LJ an Raidsonic Icy Dock MB-452MK-B).
Die Platte ist Fat32-formatiert, OS openSuSE 10.2 mit KDE. Wenn ich das Gerät anstecke erscheint die Platte als "disc" unter /media/. Im "Arbeitsplatz" taucht sie ebenfalls auf. Nun habe ich eine Verknüpfung zur URL /media/disc auf den Desktop gelegt. Soweit erreiche ich die Platte überall und alles funktioniert einwandfrei. Spreche ich das Gerät nun für einen kurzen Zeitraum nicht an (etwa 5 min reichen schon), ist es unter der Verknüpfung nicht mehr erreichbar
Der Befehl lässt sich nicht ausführen. Die Datei oder der Ordner file:///media/disk/ existiert nicht.
und auch unter /media/ ist sie nicht mehr present.
Öffne ich hingegen nun den "Arbeitsplatz" ist sie da. Klicke ich anschließend abermals auf die Verknüpfung ist die Platte auch über diese wieder erreichbar, aber nur, wenn ich sie vorher über "Arbeitsplatz" geöffnet habe, sonst erhalte ich obigen Fehler.
Die Transferraten liegen bei etwa 50-55 MB/s was für meine Verhältnisse schnell genug ist.
Ab und an klinkt sich die Platte auch während eines Schreib- oder Lesezyklus aus und ist nicht mehr erreichbar ...

Wie kann man diesen kleinen Aussetzer beheben?

Hat das evtl. etwas mit dem USB-Geschwindigkeitsbug von 10.0 zu tun?

Warscheinlich funkt da das Powermanagement (Stromsparfunktionen)
dazwischen und schaltet die USB-Festplatte aus. Möglich ist auch , dass die Mount-Automatik bei nicht nutzen, die Platte automatisch vom System trennt. Was davon zutrifft durfte bei Auslesen vom
