Thin Client t5525 Einstellen der Auflösung klappt nicht

Hallo zusammen,
ich habe mir heute eine ThinClient t5525 (Auslaufmodell) mit Linuxbetriebsystem zugelegt.
Bin mit dem Gerät an sich zufrieden, Netzwerkdrucker konfigurieren war kein Problem. Anders sieht dies jedoch beim Verändern der Grafikeinstellungen aus.
Basiseinstellung ist 640x480 bei 24bit Farbtiefe. Die Einstellungen auf 1280x1024 bei 32 bit Farbtiefe zu verändern und die Eingaben zu speichern ist kein Problem, doch beim Neustart des grafischen System oder nach dem Reboot kommen wieder die alten Einstellung, das nervt gewaltig. Ein vernünftiges Handbuch war auch auf CD nicht vorhanden und das Produkthandbuch ließ sich von er HP-Seite auch nicht laden.

Würde mich sehr freuen, wenn mir hier jemand helfen könnte.

habe bezüglich auf das oben stehende Problem, nach langem Suchen, folgende Lösung bei HP gefunden.

HP Compaq Thin Clients - Display Settings Are Not Retained After A Reboot

ISSUE:

Display settings are not retained or they may default to 640x480 after a reboot.

SOLUTION:

To correct this issue, please follow the steps below.

1. Open the VI editor to edit the file /etc/X11/XF86Config.
1. Open a console.
2. Type vi /etc/X11/XF86Config and hit the Enter key.
2. Locate the device section for the graphics card.
1. Scroll down to the device section with identifier 'videocard0'.
3. Enter the option NoDDCValue for the video card.
1. Place the cursor on the line: Option "XaaNoPixmapCache"
2. Press a to enter VI edit mode followed by the Enter key.
3. Type: Option "NoDDCValue" and press the Esc key.
4. Save changes and exit the VI editor.
1. Type :w to write changes.
2. Type :q! to quit the VI editor.
5. Reboot for settings to take effect.

Trotzdem kriege ich den vi Editor nicht zum Laufen, "Lösung" gefunden Problem besteht weiter.

Vielleicht kann mir jemand hier Starthilfe geben.

Nimm irgend einen Editor deines Vertrauens und machs damit. VI muß man kennen und lieben
