[gelöst] 3D Beschleunigung für GForce4 Grafikkarte

Hallo zusammen,

In den nVidia Repos befinden sich leider keine Treiber mehr für Grafikkarten bis GForce4.
Ich brauche jedoch für diesen Rechner 3D Unterstützung und der nouveau Treiber arbeitet mit dieser Grafikkarte nicht wirklich zusammen.
Also von nVidia den Treiber NVIDIA-Linux-x86-96.43.23-pkg1.run herunter geladen und gem. der Anleitung unter http://de.opensuse.org/SDB:NVIDIA-Treiber-Modulebau#Installationsablauf vorgegangen.
Die Treiberinstallation startet erst gar nicht, da der Installer den Linux-Header nicht findet.
ERROR:
The kernel header file'/lib/modules/3.7.10-1.32-desktop/build/include/linux/version.h' does not exist. The most likely reason for this is that the kernel source files in '/lib/modules3.7.10-1.32-desktop/build/' have not been configured
Hat vielleicht jemand eine Idee, wo ich die Linux-Header finde, oder wie und wo ich sie erstellen muss?

Bei dem vor Dir genannten link steht dabei, welche Pakete installiert sein müssen. Im übrigen verwendet 12.3 X.Org X Server 1.13.2, und diese Version wird laut http://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3142 vom Treiber nicht mehr unterstützt (und daher ist der Treiber im Repo ftp://download.nvidia.com/opensuse/12.3/ auch nicht mehr enthalten).

Bei der Grafikkarte handelt es sich genauer um eine mit GForce4 MX4000 Grafikchip. Und um genau zu sein, der nouveau Treiber liefert zwar ein Bild, aber eben nicht mehr als 640×480 Pixel mit sehr stark eingeschränktem Farbraum (hab es nicht genauer), was ich nicht als eine Unterstützung der Grafikkarten ansehe.

Wenn der unter Opensuse 13.1 vorhandene Xorg nicht vom nVidia Treiber unterstützt wird, fürchte ich mir eine andere Grafikkarte kaufen zu müssen. Wirklich ärgerlich, in den alten Rechner noch mal was rein stecken zu müssen. :-?

Wo ist das Problem, relevante Logfiles zu liefern?
Als minimaler Start wäre /var/log/Xorg.0.log von Vorteil.

Ich muss korrigieren, dem Logfile nach wird statt dem nouveau Treiber wohl der VESA Treiber verwendet:

Da du dem Kernel nomodeset mitgibst, ist es kein Wunder, daß nouveau nicht benutzt wird!
nouveau braucht KMS zwingend, was Du aber per nomodeset deaktivierst!

Danke für die Hilfe.
Nachdem ich mit beim entfernen des nomodeset Parameters noch die Partitionstabelle zerschossen hatte, läuft nun alles wieder, der nouveau Treiber startet und gibt auch die gewünschte Bildschirmauflösung her.
Jetzt habe ich aber noch ein anderes Problem, das gehört jedoch nicht hier in die Rubrik Hardware.

Hallo,

Nur noch mal zur Info.
Falls jemand das liest, um eine GForce4 oder älter mit dem nouveau Treiber zum laufen zu bekommen, weil der gerne den Gnome3 in seiner modernen Form nutzen möchte. Spart euch den Aufwand und besorgt euch gleich eine Grafikkarte mit Radeon GPU.
