[gelöst]SD Karte wird erkannt, XD Karte nicht

Hallo,

in meinem Kartenleser werden SD Karten sofort erkannt, stecke ich eine XD Karte rein passiert nicht. Nicht einmal die Kontrollleuchte blinkt auf.

Woran kann das liegen?

Jetzt kommt die ungeliebte Antwort:

Selbes Gerät. anderes BS, alles ist gut.

Die SD Karte wird sofort gemountet, während bei xd Karte nicht mal die LED aufleuchtet.
Das gibt mir Rätsel auf.

Das Problem ist bekannt. Für die xD-Karten hält Olympus das Patent und gibt die Beschreibung nicht raus. Daher gibt es keine Möglichkeit xD-Karten unter Linux zu lesen. Das Problem habe ich hier auch. Ich hänge deshalb immer meine Kamera direkt an den PC und lese die dann über USB aus, das geht.

Mir hat es auch keine Ruhe gelassen und ich habe mal ein bisschen gelesen (auch wenn es mich selbst nicht betrifft, dank CF ;-) ). Der deutsche Eintrag der Wikipedia gibt nur an, daß die Karte selbst keinen Controller hat, das Endgerät (Kamera oder Rechner) also per Treiber direkt auf die Daten (MLC) zugreifen muss (siehe Beitrag von stka). Die englischen Angaben sind da genauer in Bezug auf Linux:
However, a few models of xD card readers based on the Alauda chip do allow direct access (bypassing the above mechanisms) to an xD card's flash memory; these readers have been reverse-engineered and Linux drivers have been produced by the Alauda Project, which has also documented the on-chip data structures of the xD card. According to this information, the xD card headers are similar to those used by SmartMedia, and include information on the manufacturer of the chip.
