PC hängt sich komplett auf

Ich habe suse 11.3 neu installiert und das System lief einige Wochen ohne Probleme (ausser bei Kmail). Ohne das ich Änderungen vorgenommen habe, funktioniert nun erst alles zirka 5 Minuten einwandfrei, dann ist keine Eingabe über Maus und Tastatur mehr möglich.
Da ich ein absoluter Anfänger bin, weiss ich z.Z. nicht, wie ich das Problem sinnvoll analysieren und beheben könnte.

Kann da jemand helfen?

Lese Dir Deinen Beitrag mal durch - Du wirst feststellen, dass Du die eigentliche Symptome nicht beschreibst, deshalb werden wir Dir kaum helfen können.

Eventuell wäre eine genauere Überprüfung Deiner Hardware angezeigt. Den RAM könntest Du mit memtest überprüfen (wird z.B. im Eingangsmenü der SuSE-DVD angeboten, einfach mal über Nacht laufen lassen und nach dem Aufstehen nachschauen, ob Fehler gefunden wurden). Für Festplatten bietet sich s.m.a.r.t. an, in dessen Anwendung und Ausgabe man sich aber erst mal reinfuchsen muss. Etwas einfacher ist der Hitachi Drive Fitness Test oder (falls dieser mit Deiner Festplatte nichts anfangen kann) ein entsprechendes tool vom Hersteller der HD.

Aber das ist jetzt sehr ins Blaue getippt. Wie gesagt, etwas genauer müsstest Du schon beschreiben, was da vor sich geht. Hilfreich wären eventuell Deine boot-Meldungen (während des boot-Vorgangs mal ESC drücken).

Hallo und vielen Dank für Deine Antwort,

mein Problem ist leider genau das, was ich beschrieben habe: nach zirka 5 Minuten steht der PC und es tut sich nichts mehr. Keine Eingabe ist mehr möglich, keine Ausgabe wird erzeugt. Alsoluter Stillstand.

Ich versuche jetzt erst einmal nach boot-Meldungen zu schauen :???:

Die verflixten Meldung sind mir durchgerutscht. Mit ESC waren sie nicht zu stoppen. Gesehen habe ich viele grüne "dones", aber leider auch etwas gelbes - wahrscheinlich eine Warnung?

Ich versuche es heute Mittag mal mit der System-DVD.

Falls die Uhr noch läuft ist Dein Problem vermutlich auf die Ein-/Ausgabe via Tastatur/Maus beschränkt -- dann würde ich auf ein Grafik Treiber Problem tippen.

Danke Roland! Die Uhr werde ich beim nächsten Versuch beobachten!

Ich habe gerade die System-DVD eingelegt und das Rettungssystem aufgerufen.
Eine "rote" Meldung habe ich:
System Boot Control: The system has been failed features boot.clock
und eine "gelbe" Meldung
Skipped features: System Boot Control: Running /etc/init.d/boot.local boot.md

Hat jemand dazu Ideen?

Hast Du hier möglicherweise hier beim abschreiben die Zeilen vermischt? (macht zumindest für mich keinen Sinn).

Ich würde das System nochmals ganz normal booten und die System Ausgaben überprüfen (drücke die "Esc" Taste falls Du diese nicht siehst). Gibt es da irgendwelche Fehler Meldungen (oder Warnungen etc.)?

*ERROR* (was auch immer dies bedeutet)

Du hast offenbar eine Radeon Grafik -- da bin ich ohne Erfahrung -- muss daher passen.

Du hast (so ich mich nicht irre) auch eine Webcam -- bin ich ebenfalls ohne Erfahrung.

So oder so vermute ich ein Grafik Problem. Bitte poste noch die Ausgabe von (als root in der Konsole):

# hwinfo --gfxcard
sowie ein Listing der Datei "xorg.conf"

Vielleicht/hoffentlich meldet sich ein ATI/AMD Experte

Die Radeons können nicht mit den Kernelmodesettings arbeiten. D.h. dass du KMS deaaktivieren musst. Das kannst du wie folgt machen:

Z.Z. läuft das Teil ohne Probleme. Gemacht habe ich noch nichts.
Ist das Zufall?
Soll ich trozdem KMS deaktivieren? Oder erst, wenn/falls es wieder Probleme gibt?

Wie kommst Du darauf? radeon ohne KMS ist nicht wirklich brauchbar (und funktioniert mit KMS prächtig).

Das sollst Du nicht tun. Wenn Du fglrx nicht installiert hast und bei Dir eine Datei /etc/X11/xorg.conf existiert, dann benenne sie um. Wenn das Problem wieder auftritt, sichere sofort nach dem Neustart die Dateien /var/log/boot.omsg und /var/log/Xorg.0.log.old, eventuell ist da etwas zu erkennen. Außerdem solltst Du dann die Ausgabe von

/usr/sbin/hwinfo --gfxcard
cat /boot/grub/menu.lst
ebenso liefern wie aus der Datei /var/log/messages die letzten Zeilen vor dem Neustart.

Der Bildschirm gibt seine Fähigkeiten nicht oder fehlerhaft bekannt. Paßt die Auflösung trotzdem?
