Kann externen Bildschirm nicht aktivieren, weil Fn+F8=P

Servus,

habe auf meinem Notebook 11.3 installiert. Das Notebook ist ein Dell Latitude E6410 mit nvidia Quadro Grafik. Mittlerweile hab uch auch den nvidia Treiber eingespielt, was problemlos klappte. Jetzt habe ich nur ein Problem, wenn ich einen externen Monitor anschließe, kann ich nicht auf diesen umschalten, weil wenn ich Fn+F8 drücke, P ausgegeben wird. Also wenn ich ein offenes Editorfenster habe und Fn+F8 drücke, schreibt der mit dort ein Großbuchstaben "P" hin. WTF?
Habe geguckt, ob vielleicht eine .Xmodmap Datei vorhanden ist, die irgendwelche Tasten umbiegt, aber Fehlanzeige. Tastaurlayout ist Deutsch ohne tote Tasten.

Wie schaffe ich es, die Fn+F8 Tastenkombination das tun zu lassen, was sie soll?

Zum Vergrößern anklicken....
was passiert denn, wenn du in den nvidia-settings einen zweiten Monitor aktivierst? bzw. hier umstellst? Funktioniert das?

Das habe ich natürlich zuallererst probiert. Aber da ist kein zweiter Bildschirm zu sehen. Auch wenn ich "Detect Displays" anklicke, zeigt er nur den internen Bildschirm zur Auswahl an. Wahrscheinlich muss der Ausgang erst aktiviert werden.

Wenn ich den Rechner zugeklappt mit angeschlossenem Bildschirm starte, passiert folgendes:
Bootloader und Bootvorgang werden auf dem externen Bildschirm ausgegeben, aber sobald der XServer startet, wird der externe Bildschrim dunkel.

PS: Falls es irgendwie hilft: unter Ubuntu 10.04 mit nvidia-Treiber geht die Fn+F8 Taste auch nicht, aber da wird der externe Bildschirm von nvidia-settings gefunden und ich kann sowohl den Bildschirm klonen als auch den Desktop auf beide Bildschirme eweitern.
