Brother MFC425-CN unter openSuse 11.1

Hallo und frohes neues Jahr!

Ich habe ein Problem mit der Einrichtung meines Druckers
Computer: Laptop mit AMD 1400+ und 256MB RAM
Betriebssystem: openSuse 11.1, heruntergeladen und installiert am 31.12.2008
Drucker: Brother MFC 425 CN, angeschlossen über USB

Installiert wurden alle von Brother zur Verfügung gestellten RPM-Dateien in der richtigen Reihenfolge.

Der Drucker wird in CUPS angezeigt, eine Testseite wird jedoch nicht gedruckt sonder es wird gemeldet das der Drucker nicht angeschlossen sei (USB-Verkabelung und Stromanschluss sind jedoch korrekt). Der Drucker ist auf dem selben Computer unter openSuse 10.3 funktionsbereit und druckt fehlerfrei...
Beim Versuch, den Drucker zu ändern, bleibt CUPS nach Eingabe des Druckernames hängen, während er sich mit localhost:631 verbinden will / soll.

Unter YAST wird der Drucker angezeigt, die Ausgabe einer Testseite streikt ebenfalls. Wird der Drucker gelöscht und versucht, ihn unter YAST neu zu installieren, wird auf einmal kein Drucker am USB-Port gefunden...

Was hängt noch an den USB-Anschlüssen?
Es sieht nach anderen Problemen, wie der Drucker, hast du schon mal die
dmesg-Meldungen beobachtet?
Was sagt "lsmod"?

Ausser dem Brother ist ein Logitech-Trackball angeschlossen, die restlichen zwei USB-Anschlüsse sind nicht belegt. Beide Geräte funktionieren unter der parallel installierten openSuse 10.3 normal und problemlos. Beim Computer handelt es sich um ein ECS-Gerät (Elitegroup A535).

Wenn ich das richtig sehe werden die externen USB-Geräte erkannt. Bei dem "PRISM USB" handelt es sich um ein internes WLAN, das aber nicht genutzt wird und deswegen nicht konfiguriert ist.

Wäre toll wenn mir jekand weiterhelfen könnte. :)

So eine Vermutung:
Entlade den prism2_usb-Treiber und schau , ob es dann geht.

Läuft opensuse 10.3 mit ACPI?
Irgendwelche Zusatz-Kernelbootparameter?
Vergleiche mal die Dateien in /etc/cups , in 10.3 und 11.
