Make Problem

Hallo,

ich wollte Elisa Multi Media Center installieren, doch es fehlt eine Menge an Archiven die ich dann getrennt als tarballs ziehen und installieren soll. Leider habe ich aber ein Problem dabei. Habe schon eine halbe Ewigkeit mit Linux nicht gearbeitet und daher macht mir der Befehl "make" Probleme.

Laut der INSTALL Datei soll man so verfahren:

Basic Installation
==================

These are generic installation instructions.

The `configure' shell script attempts to guess correct values for
various system-dependent variables used during compilation. It uses
those values to create a `Makefile' in each directory of the package.
It may also create one or more `.h' files containing system-dependent
definitions. Finally, it creates a shell script `config.status' that
you can run in the future to recreate the current configuration, and a
file `config.log' containing compiler output (useful mainly for
debugging `configure').

It can also use an optional file (typically called `config.cache'
and enabled with `--cache-file=config.cache' or simply `-C') that saves
the results of its tests to speed up reconfiguring. (Caching is
disabled by default to prevent problems with accidental use of stale
cache files.)

If you need to do unusual things to compile the package, please try
to figure out how `configure' could check whether to do them, and mail
diffs or instructions to the address given in the `README' so they can
be considered for the next release. If you are using the cache, and at
some point `config.cache' contains results you don't want to keep, you
may remove or edit it.

The file `configure.ac' (or `configure.in') is used to create
`configure' by a program called `autoconf'. You only need
`configure.ac' if you want to change it or regenerate `configure' using
a newer version of `autoconf'.

The simplest way to compile this package is:

1. `cd' to the directory containing the package's source code and type
`./configure' to configure the package for your system. If you're
using `csh' on an old version of System V, you might need to type
`sh ./configure' instead to prevent `csh' from trying to execute
`configure' itself.

Running `configure' takes awhile. While running, it prints some
messages telling which features it is checking for.

2. Type `make' to compile the package.

3. Optionally, type `make check' to run any self-tests that come with
the package.

4. Type `make install' to install the programs and any data files and
documentation.

5. You can remove the program binaries and object files from the
source code directory by typing `make clean'. To also remove the
files that `configure' created (so you can compile the package for
a different kind of computer), type `make distclean'. There is
also a `make maintainer-clean' target, but that is intended mainly
for the package's developers. If you use it, you may have to get
all sorts of other programs in order to regenerate files that came
with the distribution.

Also lud ich die Datei runter, entpackte diese und wechselte anschließend in das neu entstandene Verzeichnis und tippte:

Es erschien eine lange Liste an Dateien die vorbereitet wurden. Soweit so gut.

Dann schreibe ich

und folgende Meldung kommt zurück:

make: *** Keine Targets angegeben und keine »make«-Steuerdatei gefunden.  Schluss.

Make ist installiert - woran liegt das also?

Allgemein: um welche Distri geht es hier eigentlich? Für SuSE gibt es Elisa via Packman, das übersetzen könntest Du Dir also sparen.

Zudem solltest Du Dir die Meldungen, die das configure-Skript auswirft, mal genauer ansehen, eventuell hast Du da fehlende Pakete oder header-Dateien übersehen, die Du noch nachinstallieren musst.

Diese "generic installation instructions" sind übrigens nicht der Weisheit letzter Schluss - gerade vor dem Hintergrund Deines Hinweises, dass Du für Elisa recht viele Pakete selber übersetzen sollst. 'make install' installiert am Paketmanagement vorbei, mit der Zeit schafft man sich so also ein ziemlich inkonsistentes System. Besser, man ersetzt 'make install' mit dem Bau eines via Paketmanagement installierbaren .rpm-Pakets.

Ich habe suse 11.0 x86.

Also lt. configure ist alles ok. Dieses Paket das ich installieren wollte ist auf der Liste der Dependencies und somit noch nicht das Hauptprogramm. Es ist das "gstreamer-0.10.pc" - ein anderes Paket braucht das und Elisa braucht das andere Paket. Am liebsten hätte ich Elisa als RPM mit allen drum und dran, aber nix gefunden bisher.

Ach ok - ich habe jetzt was gefunden: http://packman.links2linux.de/package/elisa/80480
Ich habe zuerst elisa-0.5.22-0.pm.1.src.rpm installiert. Doch dann folgendes Paket elisa-with-plugins-0.5.22-0.pm.1.x86_64.rpm macht Probleme.

Wenn ich es aber ausführe und Yast startet, dann kommt eine Fehlermeldung:

Paket /tmp/elisa-with-plugins-0.5.22-0.pm.1x86_64-3.rpm konnte nicht installiert werden.

'gstreamer-0.10.pc' befindet sich in 'gstreamer-0_10-devel', und wenn dieses Paket nicht installiert ist, hätten wir schon mal ein Grund, weshalb 'configure' eigentlich nicht durchlaufen kann. Na egal, denn...

Elisa → klick (wie gesagt, bei Packman erhältlich - hast Du den noch nicht eingebunden?)

Ach, wunderbar. Ich bedanke mich. Installation hat geklappt, ich schau jetzt ob es auch noch funktioniert.

Wieso ist eigentlich das bauen von paketen gefährlich für die Konsistenz eines Systems? Das höre ich tatsächlich zum ersten mal. Zumal doch auch Kernel kompilation mit "configure" und "make","make install" erfolgt ?

Ich kannte packman nicht. Jetzt schon. Hatte auch oben ergänzt - ihr wart nur schneller weil ich soviel tippen musste

Wieso ist eigentlich das bauen von paketen gefährlich für die Konsistenz eines Systems? Das höre ich tatsächlich zum ersten mal.

Wie schon angedeutet: weil eine solche Installation nicht von der rpm-Datenbank registriert wird (kritisch ist also erst das 'make install'). Solcherart ins System gelötete Pakete können u.U. nur schwer wieder entfernt werden (mit etwas Glück findet man ein 'uninstall'-Skript, die oft aber nicht zuverlässig arbeiten), upgrades und v.a. die Auflösung von Abhängigkeiten *zu ihnen* funktionieren auch nicht mehr, denn 'rpm' kann hier nicht greifen - ein gewissenhafter Quellenübersetzer baut deshalb vor der Installation ein installierbares .rpm (oder meinetwegen .deb oder .tgz).
