Permaneter Systemstillstand nach ca. 5 Minuten durch (vermutl.) defekte Hardware - aber welche ???

Mein 4 Monate alter Rechner macht seit Anfang an nur Probleme. Ich habe SuSE 10.3 installiert und nach dem Booten kann ich ca. 5 Minuten arbeiten, danach geht gar nichts mehr. Er erkennt nichts mehr auf der Platte, kann auch nichts schreiben. Ein Login als root ist nicht möglich, springt nach Eingabe des Benutzernamens root sofort wieder auf Login zurück.

Ein shutdown (STRG-ALT-ENTF) ist ebenfalls nicht möglich. Es hilft nur noch Ausschalten. Danach erkennt er oft im BIOS noch nicht mal mehr die Platte (insert proper boot medium). Wenn man den Rechner eine Weile (oder über Nacht) "abkühlen" läßt, bootet er wieder sofort. Manchmal ist er auch gut drauf und hält wochenlang ohne Fehler durch.

Die Festplatte wurde vom Verkäufer bereits getauscht (Garantieleistung). Danach habe ich Linux neu installiert und es lief 3 Wochen ohne Fehler. Nun taucht der Fehler hartnäckig wieder auf. Eine erneute komplette Neuinstallation hat nichts gebracht.

Ich bin nun nicht der Harware Profi, so dass ich die Meldungen in /var/log/messages interpretieren könnte. Deswegen wende ich mich an dieses Forum. Vielleicht hat ja jemand eine Idee, wo es haken könnte. Der Verkäufer weiß nun auch keinen Rat und lässt mich ziemlich im Regen stehen. Deswegen wäre ein Tip von dieser Seite bestimmt sehr hilfreich, da man heutzutage ja jedem "Fachmann" sagen muß, was er zu tun hat. Vielen Dank

Hast du mal den Ram-Speicher ueberprueft?

Mach das mal mit dem MEM-Test welcher in der Grub Menueauswahl zu waehlen ist. Diesen bitte ganz/komplett durchlaufen lassen was eine ganze Zeit in Anspruch nehmen kann.

Tritt das Prob. nur bei SuSE auf oder auch bei anderen Distributionen. Was hast du alles versucht, ist Windows auf dem Rechner welches ohne diese Zicken rennt. Schon mal div. LiveCDs getestet?

Nee, das sieht mir sehr verdächtig nach BUS-Error zwischen Kontroller und Platte (sda) aus. Wenn man an den Busgeschwindigkeiten oder dem Kernel und dessen Treibern nicht vorsätzlich rumgespielt oder herum experimentiert hat, dann kann man in etwa folgendes versuchen um den Fehler einzugrenzen, wenn der selbe Fehler schon mit der ehemaligen Platte aufgetreten sein sollte.

SATA-Einstellungen im BIOS prüfen, eventuelle BIOS mal auf default-Werte zurücksetzen, Steckverbindungen des Kabels am Mainboard und an Platte prüfen. Ist Kabel gequetscht oder stark "geknotet" oder hart geknickt ?
Wenn vorhanden dann mal ein anders Kabel testen.

Wenn möglich 2. Kontolleranschluss am Board versuchen.
Alle anderen eventuell verbaute Platten und Laufwerke testweise abhängen.

Soweit möglich anderen Plattentype probieren, ( um eventuelle Unverträglichkeit von Plattentype mit Kontroller auszuschließen)

Was dann noch übrig bleibt, ist Verdacht auf Fehler auf dem das Mainboard selbst

Aber vielleicht hängt das auch damit zusammen, was robi geschrieben hat.

Sowas passiert auch bei Netzteilen die z. B. durch die Elektrolytkondensatorenalterung nach c.a. 1 Jahr oder mehr einfach nicht mehr die aufgedruckte Leistung bringen (passiert bei Noname-netzteilen manchmal sogar noch schneller, mich hatte ein 550 W Goldenfield netzteil mal nach 9 Monaten ein Board gekostet da es einfach vorzog bunte Rauchzeichen mit den Kondensatoren von sich zu geben statt zu arbeiten nach vorherigen 24/7 Dauerbetrieb über besagte 9 Monate) und wo dann eben einfach zuwenig elektrische Leistung bei der Hardware ankommt. Was für ein Netztei hast du drin (angegebene Leistung+Hersteller+Modell) und wie alt ist dieses?

Netzteil ist ATX BE Quiet! Straight Power 400 Watt/BQT E5 . Wurde zusammen mit dem Rechner gekauft; ist also erst 4 Monate alt.

An den Busgeschwindigkeiten oder dem Kernel und dessen Treibern hab ich sicher nicht rumgespielt. BIOS und Mainboard werde ich beim Verkäufer checken lassen, schließlich hat der Garantie zu gewährleisten. Abgesehen davon habe ich im Forum gelesen, dass ein User etwa das gleiche Problem mit einem "frozen system" hatte. Da wurde einfach das DVD Laufwerk abgezogen und schon lief alles. Möchte zwar auf mein DVD Laufwerk nicht verzichten, aber ausprobieren kann ich das ja mal.

Windows macht keine Probleme (sofern die Platte erkannt wird und XP bootet). Genauso wenig wie eine Knoppix Live CD. RAM wurde getestet, ohne Befund. Werde das aber mal eine Nacht lang durchlaufen lassen.

Wenn das Netzteil nicht mehr in Ordnung ist, geht in den meisten Faellen der gesamte Rechner aus bei dementsprechender Last wo das Netzteil dann nicht mehr hinterherkommt. Hier bleibt so wie ich das gelesen habe einfach nur alles stehen. Denke von daher nicht das es am Netzteil liegt.
Da RAM-Speicher anscheinend ok ist, koennte ich mir Robis Vorschlag gut als Fehlerquelle vorstellen.

Och, also abrupte Festplattenabmeldungen sowie plötzich grottenlahme Grafik hatte ich bei einem schlapp dimensionierten Netzteil (berechnete 435 Watt bei 100%iger Last mit 35% Alterung für ein Enermax 460 W Netzteil das schon ein Jahr alt war) auch schonmal...davon ausgehen das vielleicht 10 USB-Geräte dranhängen, 2 Gehäuselüfter drin sind, ein DVD-RW aufwerk und ein Floppylaufwerk bei einer Elko-Alterung von 35 % unter permanenter Vollast wäre das System gemäß http://extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp ja schon mit 385 Watt dabei,ohne die Alterung zu berücksichtigen und mit 90% Dauerlast wäre es bei 259 Watt und mit 45%iger Alterung und 100%iger Last schon weit über den 400 Watt...da müsste man mal genau kalkulieren, wobei ein Markennetzteil wohl im ungünstigsten Fall die 35%ige Alterung der Elkos nach einem Jahr haben dürfte,ein Noname könnte da heftiger "verschlissen" sein...

habe das selbe Problem wie brody51a. e2fsck zeigt kaputte Sektoren an, diverse Verzeichnisse sind nicht mehr erreichbar usw..

habe ich mal durchlaufen lassen, Ergebniss haufenweise kaputte Sektoren.
Werde meine 300Gb Samsungfestplatte tauschen müssen, zum Glück noch Garantie drauf.

hatte ein ähnliches Problem. Ein URALTER PII/400 (AT ! - nicht ohne weiteres ersetzbar da in schönem 4 HE-Rackgehäuse mit Non-Standard-Netzteil ...) werkelt bei mir als Fileserver. Durch diverses ersetzen von Teilen aus der Steinzeit durch Teile aus der Bronze-/Eisenzeit (mehr Speicher, Grafikkarte, UDMA100-Controller) gab's plötzlich beim Lesen der wichtigen Platte die schon beschriebenen Probleme. Das System fror sogar komplett ein. Das letzte was noch in der /var/log/messages stand war ein dma_timer_expiry, was immer das auch heißen mag. Nach diversen Umbauten und Tests hat bei mir folgende Devise geholfen: Stromverbrauch reduzieren ! Alle internen Platten bis auf Bootplatte und ein CD-Laufwerk 'raus. Den irgendwannmal eingebauten UDMA-100 Controller 'raus. Stattdessen einen Highspeed-USB Controller eingesetzt und die Server-Platten in externen Gehäusen daran gehängt. Und alles läuft wieder stabil
Die Geschwindigkeit ist auch nicht schlechter als mit den internen Platten (UDMA 100 vs. USB2.0 HS).

Hi, bei mir hat sich das vielleicht gleiche Problem
anders geäussert. Nach einigen Minuten gab es in /var/log/messages
einige Fehlermeldungen, und anschliessend war das Filesystem nur noch READONLY nutzbar.

Nach 2 Tagen probieren bin ich auf einen Workaround gekommen, der bei mir bestens funktioniert. Ich hoffe, auch bei euch.

Hier noch die genauer Problembeschreibung mit Workaround.
