Raid1 startet nicht nach Plattenausfall

Hallo alle zusammen!
Ich hoffe ihr seid auch alle Gut ins neue Jahr gekommen.
Jetzt mein Problem:
Ich versuche hier jetzt schon seid ein paar Tagen ein Software Raid1 mit Suse12.1 aufzusetzen
Läuft auch alles soweit, nur wenn ich dann zum Test eine der Platten abklemme Startet das System nicht mehr.
Erst meckert fsck das der Superblock nicht OK ist und als folge wird dann die root Partition nicht gemountet.
Ich weiß nicht was ich machen soll. Hier mal die Systemausgaben:

Noch ein paar info zum System
Suse 12.1 netz installation
Mainboard ist ein Asus P8H67-M der SATA controller ist auf SATA mode (oder so ähnlich jedenfalls nicht raid eingestellt)
eingebaut sind 2 x1TB festplatten (Samsung und Hitachi)
aufgeteilt in 2 Primäre Partitionen nach Zylinder Partitioniert einmal ca.8GB für / , md0 sda1, sdb1 und ca. 800MB für /swap md1 sda2, sdb2, der Rest ist leer
(habe ich so gemacht damit das Synchronisieren nicht ewig dauert )
Grub habe ich so installiert wie hier im HowTo beschrieben. Das klappt auch mit dem Starten alles Soweit.
Ach ja Arbeiten soll das System als File Server.

Vielleicht kann mir ja jemand helfen das das System auch nach einem Plattenausfall hochfährt.
Es geht darum das ich keine Zeit habe wenn das System ausfällt sofort hinzufahren und es wieder zum laufen zu bringen
Wenn es gar nicht anders geht mache ich nur den File Teil als Raid und installiere das System auf beiden Platten,
so das ich vielleicht per Fernzugriff das System mit den Dateien auf einer Platte wieder zum laufen bringen kann.

edit: Wenn ich das Raid mit einer Platte von Hand gestartet habe, Startet das System auch wieder bis zum Ende, mit einer Platte.

Wer sagt den, dass das System seinen Dienst einstellt, wenn eine Platte ausfällt? Ein RAID soll dies ja verhindern.
Wenn es doch zu einem Systemausfall kommen sollte, dann kannst du die Kiste nicht einfach hochfahren und gut ist. Damit sorgst du höchstens dafür, dass keinerlei Daten mehr zu retten sind und du dann den super GAU hast.

Wenn du die nicht hast, kann ich dir nur raten, den Fileserver erst gar nicht aufzusetzen geschweige den in Betrieb zu nehmen, weil es dein Verantwortungsbereich ist und du sie nicht bereit bist zu tragen. Mal eben zum laufen bringen ist da nämlich nicht. Da gehört einges mehr zu.

Das ist hier kein großer Betrieb mit fest Angestellten IT Fachleuten, oder mit Millionen Teuren Daten.
Wir sind ein kleines Familienzentrum mit ein paar Angestellten und Ehrenamtlichen das sich über Spenden und ein wenig vom Staat
Finanziert.
Und die die als Vollzeit beschäftigt sind, können sowas nicht wieder zum laufen bringen. Und ich bin Beruflich (ich bin kein IT Fachmann) auch mal 2 bis 3 Tage weg.
Zwar selten aber kann sein. Und das wir ein Risiko eingehen ist uns schon klar. Ein Backup wird auch noch gemacht, das ist auch Klar.
Nur wäre es sehr schön wenn zumindest die Vollzeit Beschäftigten während der max. 3 Tage normal weiter Arbeiten könnten.

Aber nochmal zu meinem Problem, bin ich den der einzige beim dem das nicht funktioniert?
Laut Wiki oder HowTo (ist ja beides dasselbe) sollte es doch Funktionieren.
Vielleicht hat ja jemand Technische Hinweise für mich mit denen ich das Problem lösen kann
