Bios Update auf Floppy ?

Hallo liebe Linux User.
Bin mal wieder nach vielen Recherchen am Ende meines Latain's.
Also fplgende "kleine" Problematic.
Ich arbeite mit einem IBM ThinkPad T30 und Suse 10.3.
Nun möchte ich gern zwecks Ram-Erweiterung ein aktuelleres Bios-Update aufspielen.
Auf den Seiten von IBM finde ich dazu für Linux 2 Dateien. 1. spsxli61.sh 2.spsxli61.shar
Wie bekomme ich nun eine Diskette daraus.
Ich habe ein Ultrabay Diskettenlaufwerk für diesen Vorgang besorgt.
Bin wie gesagt ratlos.

Das sieht für mich eher danach aus, als wenn man die Dateien aus einem Linux heraus ausführen müsste.
Für Floppy-Images halte ich das nicht.
War keine Readme dabei?
Wo kommen die Dateien denn her?

Ist die Seite von IBM.
Und von Diskette lese ich da andauernd etwas??

Steht doch alles in der README.
Eine der beiden Dateien runterladen, vorzugsweise die .sh aber es sind laut der md5sum beide Dateien gleich. Es handelt sich um ein kleines Script an dessen Ende das Diskettenimage angehängt ist, welches im Script entzipt und mit dd auf die Diskette geschrieben wird, (eventuelle Datein auf der Diskette werden also überschrieben!)

als root einlogen, eine Diskette einlegen (nicht mounten) das Script mit chmod ausführbar machen und das Script ausführen. Bei USB vorher nochmal in die README schauen.

Zur Installation steht dort auch was drin. :wink:

Diskette Extraction Instructions
--------------------------------
1. Log on to your system as root. You must be root in order to extract
the diskette.
2. Insert a diskette into your diskette drive. This diskette will be
completely erased during the diskette extraction process.
3. Open a terminal window, and change directories to the directory
where you downloaded the BIOS disk package.
4. The floppy drive should NOT be mounted, type "umount /mnt/floppy" or
the location where your floppy drive is typically mounted.
5. Execute "chmod u+x filename.sh", where filename is the name of the BIOS
package you downloaded.
6. If you have an internal floppy drive, such as a built-in floppy,
or a floppy drive in the Ultrabay, type './filename.sh', where filename
is the name of the BIOS package you downloaded.
7. If you have a USB floppy, type './filename.sh /dev/sda', where filename
is the name of the BIOS package you downloaded.
8. Once the diskette is extracted and verified, follow the directions
below to install the new BIOS.
