showfoto schmiert ab

Hallo,
beim Öffnen von Bilder stürzt mein showfoto 1.0.0 Rel. 2 (KDE 4.3.4) regelmäßig ab.
Interessant sind die .lock-Dateien, 4 Stück, sowie mehrere .new-Dateien, die beim angelegt werden.
Das Dateidatum ist der 02.10.1935?! Diese erscheinen aber nur, wenn das Programm abstürzt.
Wenn ein Bild normal angezeigt wird, geschieht nichts dergleichen.

Nachtrag:
Auch gwenview kanns nicht mehr. Die kde4-Versionen beider Programme stürzen beim Öffnen FAST aller Bilder ab (warum fast weiss der Geier).
Die alten kde3 Versionen laufen klaglos. Wir sind bei kde nun bei 4.3.4 angelangt, und immer noch keine Aussicht auf fehlerfreies Verhalten. An 3.5 wirds wohl nie mehr ranreichen.
Ausgerechnet digikam, dass nunmehr den beta-Staus abgelegt hat. bis 0.9.6 ging alles glatt, 1 sieht gut aus, wenigstens so lange, bis showfoto geöffnet wird.

Die Fehlermeldung sieht dann so aus:
