Probleme mit der WLAN Verbindung

Moin Leute,
bin neu bei Linux eingestiegen und soweit klappt auch alles ganz gut. Nur meine WLAN Verbindung haut noch nicht hin. Ich habe die Linux Suse Version 10.1 und besitze als Modem eine Fritz Box Fon WLAN 7050. Die Netzwerkkarte von meinem Laptop ist die
Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG Network Connection.
Als Geräteaktivierung habe ich "Beim Systemstart" gewählt; die Firwall-Zone ist auf "Externe Zone" eingestellt.
Betriebsmodus ist "Verwaltet" den Netzwerkname(ESSID) habe ich freigelassen, der Authentifizierungsmodus ist auf "Offen" gestellt.
Als Verschlüsselungsart habe ich einen WEP-Schlüssel genommen und den Hexadezimalcode beim Verschlüsselungskey eingegeben.
Leider komme ich dennoch über WLAN nicht online. Wenn ich den Laptop über ein LAN Kabel anschließe funktioniert das Internet allerdings.
Bin echt für jeden Typ dankbar.

Hast du die ipw-firmware installiert? Bei 10.1 muss man das für die intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG Network Connection.

habe die oben genannte Firmware installiert, leider funktioniert das WLAN immer noch nicht. Woran kann es noch liegen?

Bei ifconfig kommt bei mir dasselbe raus. Es wird kein WLAN Gerät gefunden. Aber Yast erkennt das gerät.
