Hallo,

Versuche gerade verzweifelt den zum Leben wiedererweckten älteren Laptop ans Internet zu bringen.
Einen Treiber habe ich mitlerweilen gefunden und über einen anderen Rechner runtergeladen,
für den Intersil Prisma GT Chipsatz, File hat das format 2.7.0.0.arm

Wie bringe ich Linux dazu, den Treiber auch zu installieren?
Eine einfache HW Detektion funktioniert leider nicht,
hwdetect --pcmcia kann nicht ausgeführt werden.

Danke erst mal für den Hinweis.

Wenn ich dann Probleme mit dem Wireless habe, dann hast Du recht, gehört es in den anderen threat.

Mein Problem ist aber immer noch den Kampf mit der HW, d.h. der Treiber installation, damit die HW überhaupt mal erkennt wird. Das geht bei LINUX wohl etwas anders. Erkennt wird erstmal garnix.

Speziell ist auch, dass der Einzeltreiber nicht in einem komplett Packet kommt. Daher meine erste Frage, wie installiere ich den Treiber mit dem 2.7.0.0.arm Format? All die Anleitungen mit dem unpacking und den Automatismen funktionieren mit dem nackten einzeltreiber nicht.
Aber ...
Dieser Treiber sollte gemäss den WIKI Links für den Intersil Prisma GT Chipsatz OK sein, da ich ebenfalls noch eine ältere openSUSE 10.2 Installation habe.
Also, wäre froh um den Rat des Profis.

Wie bringe ich die Script daten am effektivsten auf einen Memorystick, um es hier über einen 2'ten PC anzuzeigen?
Und was genau ist von Interesse?

Mit dem Befehl: lspci -nn kommt folgendes:

Zum Treiber: Ist das angegebene Format grundsätzlich das Richtige? .. von Linux lesbar oder muss mit dem noch was gemacht werden? In anderen threats wurde z.T. angegeben, den Treiber umzubenennen.

Mit was für Befehlen binde ich den Treiber ein? Leider sind die Anleitungen nicht sehr klar darüber.

Wäre es ev. einfacher, mit der Installations CD von openSUSE 10.2 (ist alt aber vorhanden :) )aus zu machen?
Danke für jegliche Unterstützung.

Hier wirds konkret. Da wird richtig mal Klartext gesprochen, wie der Treiber umzubenennen ist und wo neu abzulegen.
Nur leider sieht bei meiner openSUSE Installation die Ordner Struktur wieder anders aus.

Ich habe die Anfrage noch in einem anderen Forum gestellt, falls noch ein anderer als Rain Maker daraufkommt, wusste ja nicht, das hier alles dasselbe und vernetzt ist ;) ... keine bösen Absichten unterstellen, bitte

Bei Fedora ist sie vielleicht noch anders, und bei der nächsten Ubuntu-Version eventuell wieder ganz anders...
Warum gehst du eigentlich nicht mal auf den Lösungsweg mit dem Skript ein, der dir hier vorgeschlagen wurde? Ich bezeifle, dass du dir den Link von Whois wirklich durchgelesen hast. So schwer ist das doch wirklich nicht zu verstehen, und es gibt den Helfern hier jede Menge Informationen, um dir wirklich zu helfen. Aber ein wenig Eigeninitiave musst du schon aufbringen.

... also, nun habe ich herausgefunden, wie ihr hier tickt.
Bin ja nicht der einzige, der sich ein bisschen forsch behandelt fühlt.

Ihr wollt den Output des Script collectNWData immer sehen, gleich ob unmittelbar von Nutzen oder nicht.

Wenn man das so erklärt, wird's auch verstanden.

Grundregel der Kommunikation: Relevant ist, was der andere versteht, nicht was du sagst.

Tja, falsch gesehen. Der Treiber ist installiert und sogar geladen.
Ich habe aber ganz offen gestanden bei den bisherigen Äußerungen und Multipostings (siehe:
http://www.linuxforen.de/forums/showthread.php?t=260686 )
deinerseits wenig Lust dir den ganzen Sums zu erklären.
So als Suchbegriff: Prism / Firmware
(Dürfte dich aber bei deiner Kernelversion der uralten Distribution nicht wirklich weiterbringen)

Mach ein update von deiner 10.2 auf was aktuelleres dann dürfte auch Wlan kein allzu grosses Problem sein.
